Dear Candy,
Thanks for organizing the trip for us. Following is the reply to your questions.
The most memorable Attractions: By far, our favorite part of the tour was the hike along the Li River. I really appreciate the fact that you and Vivian took the time to scout out the route for us in advance. We had a great time rock balancing! Definitely not on the tour plan, but Vivian was soooo flexible.
The most outstanding tour guide: Vivian is an absolute gem. I would highly recommend her to any of my colleagues, and we wish we could have taken her to Shanghai with us! Vivian always treated us like old friends from out of town. She was very proud of her culture and heritage, and was gracious to answer our endless questions about her family and the local customs. Kelly was fairly knowledgable about Shanghai. The highlights were the Yuyuan gardens, the museum, and the side trip to the first Communist Party meeting place (very informative).
The hotels and meals: The Guilin hotels were both great. I liked the food and fitness center a little better at the Waterfall. Vivian did a great job finding enough vegetarian options for Rob when we were on tour, which I know was a challenge. All the food was very good in the Guilin and Yandshou restaurants. Minnie Mao's was a lot of fun. We only had two meals with Kelly in Shanghai. The first lunch was quite good, and again thanks for adapting the menu to our needs.
Comments: The side hike we took in Longji was the absolute highlight of the day there. I wish we had planned more time for hiking away from the tourist areas, perhaps even spending a night there and hiking between the two terraced fields. I would recommend the hiking trip along the Li River to anyone with the physical stamina required. Perhaps taking the final portion on the carts to save some time and energy to explore Xingping.
Best Regards,

Dear Candy,
Sorry for taking us so long to answer to your email, but Marcelo has been travelling between Mexico and NY since we got back from our trip to China. We had a great time there and we were very pleased to have chosen China Highlights. Everything worked out smoothly, our guides were great, specially Grace, and Guillin was really worth the trip! You can be sure we will recommend your services to our friends.
Thanks again,
Claudia Di Lorenzo/Brazil

Dear Karen,
The trip that you organised was really fabulous, extremely interesting, and well worth the cost.
Memorable Attractions: Experiencing the city of Kashgar and all it had to offer was probably the most memorable attraction for me, although that covers a number of things. To stand in a city that exhibits influences from both the rest of China as well as the ethnic and cultural elements of Central Asia left a deep impression. Seeing the remnants of the old wall of China was also very memorable, although I had thought that more of it would still be evident. The centuries have taken their toll, but nevertheless I was glad to have seen it. I also was pleased that I asked you to include both the Yumenguan and Yangguan passes, as both of them are worth visiting.
Tour Guide: The most outstanding tour guide was Raziye. She was lovely, and very concerned for my welfare. But the other guides were also good, it is just that Raziye was particularly outstanding.
The hotels and meals were generally up to standard. Both Raziye and Ablimit took me to local restaurants that served Uighur food. They were good experiences.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending your company to friends and colleagues. Thank you for all the excellent work you did in putting it together, and customising it just for me.
As I mentioned, I was glad to include the Yumenguan and Yangguan passes, as they were both very interesting.
Thank you again for everything Darrell

Dear Candy,
I must complement you and China Highlights for the excellent service supplied to us. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, which was made even more worthwhile because of the excellent service from China Highlights!
Tour guide: The Terra Cotta Soldiers tour Eric, because of his excellent knowledge on China history, his command of English and his flexibility, professionalism and helpfulness.
hotel and Food: The meals at Anting Villa were not up to standard, but both hotels we used were well placed and had good facilities. Because of my wife's dietary requirements we mostly avoided Chinese food. The best hotel was the Bell Tower in Xi'an Most definitely, yes! We enjoyed the shows very much.
Kind regards,
Martiens Mulder

Dear Sunny,
Thank you for your patience. First, let me again tell you how Susan and I were so very impressed with you and your company's handling of our unfortunate dinner in Yichang. We greatly appreciated your concern.
Atrractions: The most impressive man made sights were the Summer Palace and the Great Wall. Honorable mention was Yuyuan Gardens in Shanghai and the city park in Guilin was quite beautiful. Natural beauty was, of course, the Li River and Huangshan.
Tour guide: Sissy in Guilin was a dear. I hope she enjoyed us a much as we enjoyed her. Lilly at Huangshan was very pleasant and we had a number of very interesting discussions about our respective cultures and spirituality. We also appreciated her flexibility in allowing us to control where we were going. That was truly impressive and greatly appreciated.
Hotel: The Bravo hotel was quite nice, and its proximity to the city park was a treat. The meals were certainly acceptable and we enjoyed the food after Yichang. (More on this below) The accommodations on the Yangtze cruise (The Victoria) were truly excellent. Susan and I are clearly convinced that river travel will be part of our future plans.
Susan and I appreciated your professionalism, assistance and great concern. If there is anything we can do to return that favor, don't hesitate to let us know.
Thanks again,
Chris Ledwidge

Dear Cheryl,
Thank you for the whole organization, everything went very well and we were pleased with the service.
Tour Guide: Both our guides were very nice and helpful people.
Hotel: Both hotel rooms were very comfartable. I think the choice of restaurants could be improved.
Food: The food in all were good. I will not hesitate to suggest Chinahighlights to friends and other people.
Thanks for all,
Nevhiz-Korkud Demirel

Dear Karen,
Our trip was great. Our guide was Amy and she was good as was our driver. We liked all of the sights, but probably was most impressed with the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. China is an amazing place. Our lunches were also very good.

Hello Eva,
I think you can get a "feel"; for how we enjoyed our trip.
The most memorable attraction: 1.China's Xingjiang Regio:its vast land with varieties of landforms and ethnic nationalities and culturea. 2. The Great Wall to shopping in Beijing and the Hutong Tour. 3. Terra Cotta Warriors. I was amazed and in awe to realize that this Eighth Wonder was discovered.
The most outstanding tour guide: They were all good. Lemon in Shanghai and Raziye in Turban and Urumqi were excellent (beyond expectations) guides. Their knowledge of the area, history, culture of the various ethnic groups and command of the English language were exceptional. Jessica went out of her way to find rides back to the bus for those of us who finished our visit to the sand dunes earlier than the others. We didn't have to sit in the hot sun and hard steps.
Hotels and meals : The hotels were up to standard. I liked the Guangzhou Hotel/Beijing best as it afforded the most amenities. Anting Villa Hotel/Shanghai and the Bell Tower Hotel/Xian were also great. I enjoyed eating the local food at each place that was recommended by the tour leaders.
I would definitely recommend China Highlights to others. China Highlights and Eva have been most helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process, during the trip, and assisting us when our flight was cancelled.
Aloha

Dear Angela,
We are safely back from our trip and are now at home in the UK reflecting on our adventure. China Highlights were the most expensive quote I received for a private tour but I decided to pay the extra for the following reasons:
1. Your office was close to our hotel in Guilin. 2. You replied very quickly to each question and every change of plan.3. Each itinery was very detailed.
The local untouched villages were wonderful and a joy to photograph. We were able (with some translation from Michael) to photograph local people - and Michael got their names for us so that when we show our photos we can say who the people are. The most exciting part was probably taking the bamboo raft from Gonglong Bridge to Aishan. Not only was it fun but the sun was setting and the light on the river and mountains was beautiful.
Attractions:We would love to share our photos with you, and I'll send some soon. Our trip was Hong Kong - Guilin - Hong Kong - Shenzhen - Hong Kong. Overall it was a great trip. Denise says it was the best holiday ever and we will definatly come back one day. I guess the river cruise is a must for any visitor and we are no exception. But also we took 2 bamboo raft trips, one from Yangdi to Xingping and another from Gonglong Bridge to Aishan. A favorite for me was the view at sunset from Gonglong Bridge.
Our guide was Michael. It was clear from our first meeting that he was an educated man with a command of the English language. We warmed to Michael because of his flexibility so we were able to change our plans from time to time. Our objective was photography and I guess that there are few experts in the tour guide world in Guilin but Michael made a superb effort by getting a book on photography to study and even borrowing a camera to join in.
Our driver was polite and very safe. The car was comfortable and exactly right for the job and every day it was very clean. We boooked our own hotel - the Sheraton in Guilin. The pavilions and lakes in Guilin are lovely but we came to photograph the hills and we would have been better off in Yangshuo.
I would recommend your company to friends or colleagues. Different people look for different things so its hard to make firm recommendations - but obviously the boat trip from Guilin to Yangshuo. Some of our best photos are taken in some of the small villages Yangdi, Xingping, Daxu and Ping An village. I would recommend all of these to other photographers. All of our meals were great from McFound to the restaurant in Ping An. Fantastic food. Michael also recommended a restaurant in Guilin, GLR, which we tried one evening - also great food. I would be willing provide my name and contact details as a reference.
Best Regards Paul

Dear Candy,
I absolutely adored visiting the Great wall. It was a privledge to visit one of the 7 wonders of the world and it was made even more enjoyable by the cable ride up. The forbidden city was great but much busier.
Guide: We only had one tour guide, her name was Nancy. We really enjoyed having her. She is very smart and informative. She made our trip so easy and was delightful. I really enjoyed how much she knew about where we were and what the history of the places was. I particularly enjoyed her stories and legends in the long car trips to our destinations. She reccomended great places to eat that we clean and a good price. Nancy was very helpful a the bank when we were having trouble communicating with the teller as well as our hotel staff. She made us feel very welcome and was always very professional. We were a little dissapointed she could not join us for any meals. Overal she planned everything perfectly and was still open to slight alterations when we wanted to stop and look at things. We miss her already! Nancy is great but she needs a holiday... you should let her take one!
It is defintely easier to have a tour guide! I would hope that all of your staff are as good as Nancy. I would certainly reccommend HER to my friends and family.
Travel tips: prepare yourself for anything and everything! Beijing can be really cold, bring a warm coat and some good walking shoes if visiting in winter. Shopping is cheap in Beijing but there is not a great deal to buy there, Hong Kong s the best to do all of your shopping although it can be a little more expensive. Must see- Great wall, Mutiya section via cable car. Spectacular views.
Kind regards,
Renae Peck
