What a great part of our trip to China! From the moment we got off the plane and saw Mark standing there with our names on a sign we knew we had made the right choice with China Highlights. The attention we received from that time until the moment we passed through security to catch the plane for the next stage of our journey was excellent. Almost everything met our expectations, a good driver (and skilful too, which pleased us on the mountain roads), and a friendly guide in Mark, who showed us through an excellent range of activities. The scenery was amazing, the mountain rice terraces of Longshou and the village of Longji (great lunch spot by the way, thanks Mark), the trip down the Lijiang and the lovely town of Yangshuo(with an excellent hotel), as well as the scenic spots around Guilin, we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Mark was extremely helpful from helping to ensure Gary had vegetarian food, to making sure we knew the history and significance of what we were seeing and based on our experience we are very happy to highly recommend China Highlights for anyone who wants a trip tailored to their needs, rather than being in a large tour group. Regards Maggie

Dear Eva I just wanted to tell you, we (my daughter and myself), appreciated the service provided by you and Rebecca with the Driver. We really enjoyed the terraces field visit and some other visits customized by Rebecca when returning to Guilin. Li river cruise was very nice too. With my best regards D. Huerre

Dear Karen, I very much enjoyed Zhangjiajie. I had seen pictures of this National Park 3-4 years ago when visiting a fair for tourism in Zurich and the CNTO (Chinese National Tourist Office) had a booth with brochures on different places to visit. I was very impressed by the beauty of Western Hunan province and Zhangjiajie and the park itself was quite spectacular. The only thing that probably wasn't perfect was the weather as it's the rainy season, but we were lucky to have 3 days that were dry but somewhat cloudy. I guess living in China, I also appreciate the chance to experience the local culture. My son and I walked through the city and only saw 2 Western visitors the whole time we were there. I guess the only outside folks that have discovered Zhangjiajie are the Koreans as there were many signs in Chinese and Korean. The tough part is that English is not very widely spoken. I'm trying to improve my Chinese and enjoyed the chance to try my limited ability in the restaurants -- very nice experience for us! I would really recommend this place if someone likes nature and the chance to experience local culture. It was absolutely great! I also want to compliment you on the guide, Leon. While I realize that he was from the local agency, he had a very high level of English ability and knew Zhangjiajie very well. The Lantian Hotel and the Wuling Yuan Hotel were very acceptable, clean and good service. The Lantian did have people who spoke English at the front desk and restaurant which was a plus while the Wuling Yuan didn't really have English speaking folks. I do hope that more Western people will find out about Zhangjiajie, on the other hand, I enjoyed it just because it was more local in flavor and not so many Western tourists! Thanks again for everything. I'll be back in touch with you a little later on -- Guilin is still on my list and we will probably be trying to visit after the summer. It would be great to meet you once and say hello. Kind Regards, Butch

Dear Candy Everything went very well. The driver and guide were excellent, and I could not have received nicer people. Only one and a half tour days, did not really have enough time to see as much as I would have liked - may be next time. Regards Andrew Barron

Hi Eva
I MISS CHINA! I have lived away from home (Ireland) for over ten years so I know what home sickness is like. I think I am experiencing Holiday Sickness. I miss China and can only attribute it to the fact that I miss learning so many new things and seeing new things every day.
Again I can only thank you for all your help over the last few months. You put our minds at rest as much as possible and you where always there on hand when we hand questions. This was very important when you take that leap of faith to book such a tour over the internet. Even on the day of our friends wedding you where there to put our minds at rest about our flights. Please say Hi to Clive, our guide in Guilin. He was soooo nice and such a polite gentleman. He was always ready to help. If possible also say Hi to Chris, our guide in Xian. She was so independent and outgoing it was refreshing. She was also very helpful. Especially with the food!. We have already found a local supplier of Chinese beer!
My sister and her family (her name is Helen Street) will be spending four days in Beijing in January and I have already sang your praises to her and she will be in touch about organising a tour. They are particularly interested in the Olympic sites so that is something to keep in mind for future tourists. I will pass her your email address and she will be in touch.
Thanks again, you and your team helped us have the most amazing trip.
Answers to your questions:
Best things of our tour; The security that the guides gave us. Simply by taking away all the worries about getting from A to B and leaving us to just enjoy ourselves. As regards attractions the Li river cruise was amazing and even more beautiful than we could have imagined. Even in the rain!
Suggestions to other travelers: Not to be missed - The Li river cruise was a big highlight for us. It was so beautiful. Our guide would come and find us to point out the importing things and then leave us alone to enjoy the scenery at our leisure. I would say most evenings we only had the energy to have a meal in our hotel but it was more than worth our while to catch an evening show, especially if there are acrobatics. The food was also a highlight. The guides where great in finding out what we liked and what was best for us to try.
All the best
Therese

Hello Cheryl, First of all, Garry and I would like to thank you very much for your wonderful organisation. Our tour of 4 weeks in China was wonderful and we felt very safe and confident with all your plans. We could not fault the tour that you organised for us in any way at all. We are both 60 yrs old and found the tour guides that you chose all to be helpful and they made our tours very enjoyable and interesting. Thank you again and it was lovely to meet you at last after many months of emails organising our trip. The hotel in Shanghai was very good. The staff were helpful, the location was wonderful. The tour guide here was very good. Her name was Jenny. The Yangtze River Cruise was wonderful. We upgraded our room which was better for us but everyone on board was very happy. I would suggest that people book at least 4 star for the cruise. We loved it. Guilin was our favourite place and Vivienne was extremely helpful and friendly. I am sure that that is one reason we loved your city the most but also, it is a very beautiful area. Thank you Vivienne!! The hotel was in a good location too!! Many Wendy Wu tourists from Australia stayed there I noticed. Transport to Hong Kong was very good and our driver spoke very good English and had a lovely comfortable car. Once again, thank you very much for a wonderful holiday. Garry and Rose de Graaf.

Dear Cheryl We just arrived back from a two day tour of Hangzhou and I want to commend your company and one of your tour guides. The travel arrangements were excellent, the hotel a very good choice and the travel guide, Ningning, was outstanding. She is highly professional and very knowledgeable. She made the tour a lot of fun. We were thoroughly delighted with all aspects of the tour and will use your services in the future. Thank you for a great time and a great tour.

Dear Angela,(nee hao) Having just arrived home from China thought we would drop you an e-mail to let you know what an EXCELLENT time we had in your country and exceptional value for money and service by china highlights, We will not hesitate in recommending china highlights and also being in touch for any future visit we may have. Thank you very much and all the best to you. John & Cheryl

Dear Ms Wang It was a pleasure meeting you in Guilin last week and we want to thank you for all of your help in coordinating our trip and arranging everything. It was very well planned and we enjoyed it very much. I also would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the lovely gift, I will enjoy it. Thank you again for everything. Rita Sullivan

Dear Cheryl,
Everything worked—the guides, rides, hotels--everything was where it should be and when it should be there. The sites matched what I asked for in mix of inside and outside activities. The guides were good. Dram was outstanding on all counts; Joe gave us exactly what we wanted at a moment's notice; Hedy was helpful, organized, friendly; David was informative. Cheryl was flexible and helped us put together the trip we really wanted.
My suggestion to other travelers:
When you get to Tibet, listen to your guide. The guides know about altitude and environment. Let them help you. We did and we were well, safe, and happy the whole time. We had no problems with the altitude and never had any ill effects.
Ask questions discretely and don't put your guides in difficult situations. Go see the farms and farmers if possible. We did in Tibet and in Yichang. We had a wonderful time eating tsampa and drinking chang, tea, and butter tea while visiting with our hosts.
Ask your hotel and guides for local specialty dishes and try them. Walk around and talk to people, even if you can only say a few words. Learn to bargain and have fun with it.
I was scolded by two elderly people (one man, one woman) in Old Town Shanghai for not holding my bag in front of me and keeping it zipped. Listen to them, they are right and just trying to help you. Beware of people who pace you and move as you move. You're going to get ripped off unless you change something you are doing.
