We are committed to giving our customers an authentic China experience not just something staged for tourists. Read feedback written by our customers about their experiences in China after they have returned home. These include the ratings and comments on attractions, guides, activities, hotels and food. Dear Karen, Thanks for your email. Yes we returned home safely and would like to let you know that we had a wonderful holiday. The guides in Beijing (Mr. Woo) and Xian (Mr. Liu), I would like to particularly praise as they responded to our problems of rail travel in a thouroughly professional, quick and friendly way. In response toyour questions, here are our answers. The best thing: There are no particular parts of our trip that we consider best, but the Terracotta Warriors and the Pandas are what we talk about most to our friends. The Yangtze cruise was restful and very enjoyable. The worst thing: The worst thing was the confusion regarding our train travel. We would have liked to have had a cabin on the train to ourselves, even if we had to pay for 2 more tickets, however this was not possible at the time and China Highlights Travel arranged alternative travel which we found most satisfactory. Again, praise to the guides and yourselves for sorting this out for us. I do not think China Highlights Travel could have been more helpful than they proved to be. Your service was very good and we have no complaints.

Dear Elaine, First of all: we had a great time in your beautiful country!! It was a very interesting trip, meeting local people and seeing their day to day life and also the nature/scenery was impressive. The guides (Jack in Kunming, Wendy in Dali and Droma in Zhongdian) were top, knew a lot/everything or made sure they could provide us the info the next day. Especially Wendy was in all views the best, flexible, pro-active, very good English, pleasant etc etc. We told her that if she managed to come (with her husband to be) to Hong Kong, they can stay with us and we take care of their costs in HK., as a wedding present. But -for sure- also Jack and Droma were perfect! I hope that next year we can visit Guilin and meet you! We plan also a combined trip next year to Beijing and Xi'an. Maybe you can come up with a proposal. Kind regards and thank you very much again for all the work you did for us, Freek

Hi Elaine, Thanks, the trip worked out perfectly. My answers to questions on your survey: 1. What was the best thing about your trip? I think the best part was seeing the great wall in a rural setting. 2. What was the worst thing? No worst parts! 3. How could China Highlights Travel have assisted you more? No really any more.

Dear Elaine, Just a few observations on our recent tour of China. 1. Most important: all the guides were very helpful and friendly. One of the things that we want to do when we travel is to meet people. All of the five guides we met are exceptional at their work and a real credit to your company and to China. Even in that rarified group, Lily Wong stands out for her warmth and vitality. 2. The choice of Simatai was brilliant. Of all the wonderful things we experienced in China, I think it is the most memorable. 3. The food was excellent. 4. The one surprise was the fog that seemed to pervade the country, except for Lijiang. I think you will have to deal with it directly, because it is unlike anything I have experienced elsewhere. It is unwise to let it come as a surprise, but it can be dealt with in a way that leaves the traveler informed without discouraging him. Your climate is unique, in my experience, because the soil is so saturated with water -- something that is very helpful to the farmer -- that mist is constantly evaporating from it. Notwithstanding the fog, your rural scenery is very beautiful. I hope these remarks are useful. Thanks again for your help. Joel Gibbons

Dear Cheryl Chen, Our trip to China exceeded all of our expectatives. We would like to thank you, very much, for all your support and attention. Congratulations for such an exceptional service! In returning to China, and we expect to do so, we will not hesitate in contacting you again. Kind regards, Francisco Monteiro

The best thing about my trip was your (Elaine's)great assistance to get the tour set up. You made the process very easy. The 2nd best thing was the tour guide, Jay. Her English was good, her knowledge was good, and she had a pleasant demeanor. Beyond that, the right mix of sights were chosen for my particular tour. I am happy with the selection.

The best thing of my tour: Undoubtedly your arrangement to meet us at airports, train stations whenever we arrived and to see us off for the next destination . This spelt a lot of security particularly as English is very sparsely spoken or used in China. Food was also very well chosen in almost all places, we enjoyed our meals thoroughly especially the one with Angela at Guilin. We also loved the company of the guide that we had at Chongquing. She was definitely the best amongst all the persons we interacted with.

Our trip to China was a last minute affair in the spring of 2006. We found China Highlights on Internet, and as soon as we received a rapid and detailed response from Ryan Chen, we knew we were dealing with a professional travel agency based in Guilin, China. As soon as we arrived in the first city where we had their local guide and driver, we knew that we were right! We had only the guides, drivers, cars, meals and entrance fees to museum, shows, etc, with China Highlights. We highly recommend not only these services, but travelers should book the entire trip with China Highlights, that is all domestic flights, river excursions such as Yangtze, hotels, meals, as well as the local guides and transportation. We are a couple, but this agency will do wonders for couples, small groups of friends or larger groups as well. They can customize anything. Not only that, once you are in China, their guides and drivers are always ready and capable to improvise and add visits and excursions, modify what has been agreed upon. An excellent combination of rigorously following the itinerary and flexibility when this is called for or the opportunity arises. The only surprises are good ones, great suggestions for visits, spontaneous stops along the road, concerts in the city with seats right up front even if you decide on the last minute to attend. The guides were all very professional, knowledgeable, polite and proud to show you their people and country. You will feel in security with the excellent drivers and first class cars or vans, whether you are in the very hectic traffic of modern Shanghai or on small countryside roads. We are including some photos taken with the guides and drivers. Arnold August Louise Gauvreau

Dear Cheryl: We have completed our family trip to China and I will provide you some feedback. Overall we loved visiting China and we found the service and organization of your company was very good. The pre planning was done well and you were very patient in giving me many options for our itinerary. One thing I would recommend be changed is that when a change to the itinerary (mainly flight changes), occurs, your inform the client immediately. In all cases our flight times were different than the original itinerary and we did not find out until we arrived in the city we were to leave from. The accommodations were very good in Xian (Bell Tower Hotel) and Guilin (Bravo Hotel). The hotel in Lhasa (king Sun) was not as nice. The rooms were OK, but the toilets did not work well and the hallway smelt like a sewer. The sites in China are very well presented and very organized for English speaking people. Xian was very interesting and very historical, Lhasa was very beautiful and so different. The altitude sickness was a problem for two of my sons. I suggest you warn people about this more than you do. We still would have gone, but we may have planned it differently. Guilin is so beautiful. Beijing (a guide only from you) was a very educational and the Great Wall was a highlight. One of the main benefits of using China Highlights was the organized service and the informative, well educated and personable guides. Your company must do a great job interviewing your guides because they were all excellent and well prepared, punctual and agreeable to go at our schedule and pace. For a family of five it was the best way to see the highlights at our family pace. The drivers were also all good. We have used other guides in the past and they were not as good as your guides. Also you were very nice to work with and always so pleasant and accommodating. Thank you. We did get tired of some of the guides bringing us to “extra attractions” that had a selling feature at the end. It is obvious the guides get a commission on anything sold via these extra excursions. We didn’t like this. Being offered to go is OK, but to stop unplanned is not required. We will recommend your service to our friends that come to China (I already recommended Mr. Jim Steward to you and he booked his trip with your company). I hope this feedback is useful to you and your company. Hello Elaine, We had a wonderful, and extremely busy, trip. The hotels were excellent, all of the guides (and drivers) were wonderful, the cruise was fantastic, and you chose great places for us to see. The biggest highlight, amongst many, was the Great Wall at Mutianyu. It was absolutely breathtaking. Often when you've heard a lot about a particular place, actually seeing it can be an anti-climax. But not the Great Wall! The Terracotta Warriors were much, much better than I thought they were going to be. I didn?ˉt think there were as many repaired warriors to see, but it was quite astounding. Some of the other highlights were the pandas at Chongqing Zoo (we saw four), the whole cruise, especially the visit to the museum in Wuhan. It was an evening visit and the museum was opened especially for the passengers from our ship. The display was spectacular and we felt very privileged. The driver in Beijing also took us to see the Olympic Stadium which was somewhat out of his way and was much appreciated. Wandering around Shanghai and Beijing was fascinating and the shops are fantastic-much better than at home! Shanghai Museum was also very interesting. I liked the Chinese museums in general as they don?ˉt have an overwhelming amount of exhibits and are very accessible to all tourists in terms of labeling and lay-out. There wasn't much we didn't like, but we probably could have seen less temples -it all got very confusing after a while! It was also a little annoying at times to be taken into the "tourist traps" which were invariably attached to the restaurants where we had lunch. It seemed to waste time when we could have been seeing the sights. Having said that, the silk factory in Shanghai was excellent and we picked up some good bargains. If (when) we visit China again, we'll definitely try to avoid a Golden Week. There were so many people in Beijing it was difficult to move about at the popular tourist places, and the tours of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden Palace and the Summer Palace were not very pleasant simply because of the throngs of people. I would also have liked to have seen Mao Zedong's body, but the queues were too long. However, apart from my father getting lost in the Summer Palace (we found him again after about 30 minutes), the trip went very smoothly and we all had great fun. We'd all like to thank you for all your hard work and professionalism in organising the trip for us, and we shall certainly be in touch with you to plan our next visit to China. It was a great relief to be able to have confidence that everything would go smoothly. By the way, we were upgraded to the Shangri-la suite and two Junior suites for the cruise for much less than it would have been had we bought them up front. It was still expensive, but worth it as we had our own private deck and great views of everything. Kind regards and many thanks for everything. I'll send some photos in a couple of days. Genevieve and family
